UPDATED, Mar. 5: The event has been rescheduled for March 26, due to the snow.
Two Wilton businesswomen are teaming up to host a Girls Night Out, combining their different areas of expertise to raise money for a worthy, local cause.
Wilton residents Nina Pomeroy is a photographer who owns Nina Pomeroy Photography and Maxine Berg owns Jade Active, a fashion-fitness boutique. They are hosting “Forget the Selfie” to benefit Circle of Care, on Thursday, March 5 from 7-9 p.m. at Jade, located at 7 Elm St. in New Canaan.
Attendees can shop at Jade and also have their headshot portraits taken that evening by Pomeroy (advanced appointment required), and 20-percent of all sales will be donated to Circle of Care. They’ll also be raffling off a workout outfit from Lucy.
“So often I see many professionals using random photos of themselves on social media. First impressions count more than ever,” says Pomeroy, adding, “Forget the selfie and have a professional portrait taken!”
She and Berg created the event as a way to get people out of the winter doldrums, and the duo are really looking forward to getting people out of their houses with a ‘spring kickoff’ theme. “Every spring, I host a Girls Night Out to get friends and clients together in an informal setting to catch up with each other and to preview the latest fitness wear and lifestyle apparel and to honor local business and charities,” says Berg.
“I’m glad we waited until March, we’re very hopeful that we won’t have a snowstorm!” Pomeroy laughs.
The women are members of the same Wilton Small Business Group, and had also worked together on another girls’ night out many years ago. They were eager to collaborate again, says Pomeroy, as she and Berg offer each other mutual compliments.
“Maxine has such fantastic energy as a person, and as a small business owner,” Pomeroy says. “I am thrilled to host with Nina, an acclaimed and talented photographer,” Berg says.
According to Pomeroy, it was important to them both that the event benefit a local charity. “I had wanted to do a charity-based event and Maxine said, ‘We have to do Circle of Care.’ They help so many people on so many unique levels.”
Circle of Care is a charity that provides practical, financial and emotional support, directly to children with cancer and their families, at every stage of treatment, from diagnosis to recovery.
“Circle of Care is a hands-on grassroots organization that I have always supported and have followed with awe
as it has grown from an idea to the one of a kind charity helping so many today,” Berg said.
To secure a spot for a headshot, email Pomeroy directly. Headshots will cost $125 and include one digital file. Makeup touch-ups are also available for a separate fee.
Wine and lite fare will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.
