To the Editor:
I am concerned Wilton residents may have been misled by your recent article, “CT Legislators Give Wilton Relief from 8-30g Affordable Housing with Veto Override.” The individual changes to the statute generally do not apply to towns like Wilton so they are expected to have an incremental impact at best.
With that said, I applaud the legislature for their efforts to address this complex statute.
Wilton has been on the forefront of affordable housing, having adopted affordable housing as a component of our zoning regulations prior to the State statute. It was this proactive approach which allowed the Town to qualify for the current moratorium. Affordable housing, what type(s) and possible location(s), will be an important component of the upcoming discussions surrounding the Plan of Conservation and Development.
Thank you,
Lynne A. Vanderslice
First Selectman
