There’s an incoming Nor’easter, a “bomb cyclone” that’s been named Winter Storm Riley. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 6 a.m. Friday, March 2, until 6 a.m. Saturday, March 3.

Wet snow is expected. The snow will mix with rain at times. Total wet snow accumulations of 2-to-3 inches, with localized amounts up to 6 inches, are expected. The highest amounts will mainly occur for elevations above 800 ft. and across northern portions Fairfield County.

Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the evening commute on Friday. North winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph may bring down trees and power lines. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Periods of wet snow will cause primarily travel difficulties; be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. Check local department of transportation information services for the latest road conditions.
