On Nov. 13, William Shakespeare’s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet, will open at Wilton High School. Set in Verona, Italy during the Renaissance, Romeo and Juliet tells the tale of two young, star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. The 40 students involved in this production have worked hard to interpret the archaic language of Shakespeare and to bring the story of the Montagues and the Capulets to life on the stage.

For the last three months, a talented team of adults–many of whom are WHS alumni–has worked with the students. Directed by Meredith Walker and Christopher Kozlowski, the play includes an elaborate rapier-dagger fight staged by Kevin McGuire that will leave you gasping for air; a mesmerizing Capulet ball, elegantly choreographed by Kristin Ruggieri; and vocal performances enhanced by Jackie Raposo’s teaching of the Suzuki method. As usual, Christian Planton designed the sets and the costumes were designed by Marty Kozlowski and Carol Sell. All of the hard work by this talented cast and crew will make you forget you are watching high school students.

Showtimes are Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 4 p.m., at Wilton High School’s Little Theater. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults, and can be reserved by phone at 203.834.4844 or email, whstix@wilton.k12.ct.us.
