Several Wilton High School field hockey players (current and past) have mothers who have battled breast cancer, so their fundraising efforts each year on behalf of breast cancer organizations is doubly meaningful. This year’s WHS Field Hockey team is having their Play for Pink game this coming Saturday, Oct. 10, home against Norwalk.
They’re selling raffle tickets for the chance to win some wonderful prizes donated by Jarden Corporation. Proceeds will benefit the Smilow Breast Center at Norwalk Hospital and Mammogram Program for Uninsured Women.
The games are at 9 a.m. (varsity) and 10:30 a.m. (JV) at Fujitani Field at the high school.
The effort is an annual fundraiser organized by the booster club/board of the high school field hockey teams. In six years, the team has raised $50,000 as part of a collaboration with other FCIAC schools (especially Darien). This year, organizers say, Wilton’s team is the sole effort.
Raffle tickets are $5.00 per ticket, with one ticket per prize entry.
Among the prizes are:
- ski/binding package worth $1079
- Marmot jacket ($325)
- Baseball equipment ($328)
- and more.
