Wilton High School senior Emma Rothkopf is on a hot streak. One week after being named the Ruden Report’s Player of the Week, she broke Wilton’s Field Hockey scoring record in a matchup against Westhill High School  (Stamford). During the 8-1 victory of Westhill’s turf on Wednesday, Oct. 3, Rothkopf scored her 27th goal, breaking the record set last year by Jessica Hendry.

Rothkopf, senior captain of the Warriors, still has six regular season games left in the team’s thus-far undefeated season.

“Setting a new record, to me, means that my hard work and dedication has payed off. Doing this in my final season as a Warrior and a captain makes this achievement even more rewarding and exciting for me,” she says. “It would not have been possible without my teammate’s and coaches’ support. This year our team’s motto is ‘Unity, Passion, Pride,’ and this accomplishment and our 8-0 record speaks to this. Wilton Field Hockey’s legacy is something my teammates and I are proud to be a part of.”

Chris McDougal, WHS athletic director, said Rothkopf’s outstanding performance on the field is matched by her dedication as a student.

“In addition to breaking the scoring record, Emma was also named FCIAC Exemplary-Scholar Athlete of the month. As captain of the Field Hockey team she she is a great leader on and off the field. All these accolades are wonderful for anyone to achieve. In my opinion Emma’s greatest accomplishment is the great person she is, she genuinely cares for her teammates and the wellbeing for all she comes in contact with.”

Rothkopf committed to play field hockey for Brown University at the end of her sophomore year. She is a true student athlete with a 3.95 unweighted GPA and is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.
