Yesterday, at the Darien YMCA, the Wilton High School Girls Swim and Dive Team, lead by tri-captains Brooke Kelly, Kennedy Snyder and Emily Walden, finished their regular season with a win against Darien (106-80) capturing the eastern FCIAC dual meet title. This is coach Todd Steven’s first undefeated season and the first time in the history of the program that a women’s team went undefeated.
The girls started the meet strong and had an eight point lead after Taylor Loud, Katie Stevenson and Morgan Dill swept the 50 Free. Divers, Amy Malburg, Mara Woodring and Susie Malburg were intensely focused and took second, third and fifth in diving, maintaining the Warriors’ eight point lead.
Going into the 500 Free, the Warriors had a 16 point lead over Darien. They kept their momentum, finishing the meet on a winning note with Katie Stevenson, Ellen Holmquist, Emma Babashak and Loud taking first place in the 400 Free Relay, and Arisa Cowe, Walden, Avery Rowland and Kelly taking third.
The swim boosters summed up the effort with a statement: “It was a great ending to a perfect season! Wishing them the best of luck in the upcoming championship season!”
