Along with the rest of the community, Wilton High School Theatre had a rocky start to the new year, but things are looking up with the upcoming performances of the 2022 Senior Show. This year a committed group of seniors spent months writing an original one-act musical called Sheer Chaos.
Sheer Chaos follows a particularly eventful day in the life at Renee’s Hair Salon in Astoria, Queens. Six women and their varied situations collide in one day which makes for a lot more gossip and girl talk than hair styles. Beyond the chaos that ensues is a story of female empowerment and support. Complete with some tears, outbursts, ice cream and a tap dance, Sheer Chaos is a slice of the human experience that can only be found in a salon.
Sheer Chaos was written by the cast and crew with music direction and composition by Wilton High School alum Rebecca Nisco. A masters graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, Rebecca is a professional composer in film, media, theatre and concert music. Under the direction of WHS Artistic Director Kathryn Luckstone and Nisco’s musical acumen, these 2022 seniors enjoyed the unique experience of writing their own musical.
Tickets for in-person performances and the available livestream are now on sale to the public and can be purchased through the WHS Theatre website. Performances will be held Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5, both at 7 p.m. in the high school’s Little Theatre. The theatre will open to the audience 30 minutes before curtain.
