There’s so much GOOD happening at the Wilton Library, most notably at the Innovation Station. If you haven’t yet checked out all that’s new, doable and worth exploring there, consider stopping by or participating in one of the many new programs.
The Innovation Station is open to patrons ages 13 and up. You must have a valid CT Library card and signed Innovation Station Agreement Form which details rules of usage and equipment. Space is limited and registration is required for all sessions. A PC and iMac for editing and web design are also available by appointment. Innovation Station Teen Open Session
Wednesday, Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29, 4–5:30 p.m.: Wilton Library’s new Innovation Station is open to teens ages 13–18. Stop in and experiment with Garage Band, iMovie, iPhoto or Final Cut Pro on the iMac; use the Library’s Creative Cloud subscription to work with Photoshop, Dreamweaver or Illustrator; create wallets and lanyards with Duct Tape; watch a 3D object being printed or use any of the equipment you’ve been certified on.
Introduction to Quilting: Learn How to Piece a Star Quilt Square
Wednesday, Oct. 1, 15 & Nov. 12, 10 a.m.–noon: Interested in learning the basics of quilting? Want to help create a quilt which will be hung in the Wilton Library? Nine people will work together on this joint project over the course of six weeks and three instructional sessions (10/1, 10/15 & 11/12 from 10 a.m.-noon). Session 1: You’ll receive a history of quilting before being given a star kit and then learn how to piece a block together. Before the next session, schedule a time in the Innovation Station to finish piecing your square. Session 2: Using your assembled square, you’ll learn how to quilt it and assemble all pieces, including the border. Before the next session, schedule a time in the Innovation Station to finish quilting your square. Session 3: Learn how to bind a quilt and see the finished product. Led by Cynthia Biagiotti, a former teacher and avid quilter with over 20 years experience working with a local quilt group and the Nutmeg Quilters Guild. Registration required. Must be able to commit to all three sessions and completing your square in the allotted time frame. Please bring a pair of scissors. All other materials provided.
