Press speculation is high that Wilton’s State Sen. Toni Boucher (R-26) will announce a run for statewide office today.
After a media advisory was distributed on Monday morning alerting local press to a Tuesday 11 a.m. “announcement related to the 2014 elections,” requests for comment were deflected until after the announcement.
One interesting note, the contact for the media advisory was State Rep. Gail Lavielle (R-143). She declined to provide any comment until after Boucher makes her Tuesday announcement to the media. Boucher will address reporters in Naugatuck, and GOOD Morning Wilton will update with any news once the announcement is underway.
In recent days, there have been reports that Boucher is eyeing a run for lieutenant governor, including a story in the Connecticut Post. The Hearst Connecticut newspaper cited a “person familiar with her plans.” Boucher, who lives in Wilton, is the Deputy Minority Leader in the state senate.
