Earlier this month (Aug. 2), Wilton’s Economic Development Commission (EDC) launched an online survey designed to gather input from the Wilton business community and provide insights on how to improve the local business environment.

EDC Chair Joe Favarolo told GOOD Morning Wilton why the survey — which is expected to remain open until Aug. 31 — is so important.

“Since its establishment in 2012, the EDC has been dedicated to making Wilton a preferred location for new and relocating businesses, as well as supporting the success of existing ones. This survey plays a crucial role in our ongoing efforts,” Favarolo wrote in an email to GMW.

“Business input is essential for shaping future economic development initiatives,” Favarolo continued. “By sharing their experiences and suggestions, businesses can help guide the EDC’s planning and other efforts to support the local business community.”

The survey is being billed as a business satisfaction survey. The introductory letter prefacing the survey emphasizes that the “experiences, challenges, and suggestions” of business owners are critical for Town officials to understand. The insights will drive “the future direction of economic development initiatives in Wilton” and “the [EDC’s] ongoing efforts to foster a thriving business community.”

In addition to the survey’s brevity — at roughly 5-10 minutes to complete — Favarolo hoped to assure respondents about the confidentiality of the survey.

“All survey responses will be kept confidential,” he wrote. “While the data will be aggregated for analysis, respondents can choose to identify themselves if they wish to participate in future discussions.”

The survey is posted on the Town website. Anyone with questions can contact the EDC by email.

The EDC, which currently has seven members, meets monthly. The next meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 21. Meetings are open to the public, in person and via Zoom. Meeting details and agendas are posted on the Town website.
