It will be great when it’s done, but paving in Wilton Center promises to make traffic a nightmare today. So cautions Wilton Police Capt. John Lynch, it is advisable to avoid driving in Wilton Center as much as possible today, Thursday, Nov. 12.

Lynch emailed an alert that Thursday “…will be the worst day for traffic in the North portion of Wilton Center.” Work will start on Center St. and Old Ridgefield Rd. (North area), forcing the closing of Center St. or Old Ridgefield Rd. at times. Police officers will be on scene to detour traffic. Paving is expected to move onto a small section of River Rd. as well.

On Wednesday, American Paving placed a skim-coat of asphalt to level the roadway and completely paved the “Bridge to Nowhere” (the bridge to Schencks Island).
