To the Editor:
On Sunday, Jan. 26, the Wilton Chamber of Commerce held its third annual Winter Carnival. It was a great day!
The Chamber is very thankful to all who contributed to the great success of the event! A special thank-you to Carol Johnson and Fairfield County Bank for her vision and their support as Event sponsor! Also, to our major entertainment sponsors, Kimco Realty, Blue Buffalo, Passage East Kennels and to the Wilton Rotary Club for providing the campfire and all the goodies to make S’Mores.
We very much appreciate the support and efforts of our participants, vendors and volunteers. Thank-you to Patrick Russo, Carol Johnson, Susan Goldman, Jeannette Ross, Brian Perry, Tom Sato, Josh Cole, John DiCenzo, Dr. Kevin Smith, Michael Smith, Hall Hanson and the Wilton Police, Wilton CERT, and Steve Pierce of Parks and Recreation.
From horse-drawn carriage rides through the middle of Wilton Center, to a live ice sculpture demonstration and the Wilton Rotary Club with a campfire with marshmallows, big, rideable animals, and kids crafts, there was fun for all.
Beautiful ice sculptures were commissioned by and displayed at the Village Market, Gregory and Adams, P.C. and Fairfield County Bank, and at Wilton Library. In addition the library opened early for the carnival and had a flurry of activities including the green screen that transported you through virtual reality to amazing far-off adventures, while never leaving the library!
Thanks to the support of local businesses a special Yowie scarf/hat was produced to hand out as a free give away!
We thank these member businesses for their continued support: Wilton Hardware, Outdoor Sports Lisa Gioffre Baird, Esq., Lee Horticultural Services, Greens at Cannondale/Wilton Meadows, Wilson Properties, Reynolds and Rowella, Wilton YMCA, Vision Consultants, Open House Gift Shop, Dr. Felipe Ordonez, Stamford Health, MCL Ventures and Caraluzzi’s Market.
We enjoyed coverage by our media sponsors, thank-you to GOOD Morning Wilton and WEBE 108, who supplied music at the event also.
Next year, we hope everyone will remember to save the last Sunday in January, Sunday Jan. 31, 2021, for this annual town-wide winter celebration.
