Early Voting for the 2026 municipal elections is now open — registered voters can cast their votes beginning Monday, Oct. 19. Here’s everything you need to know about Early Voting in Wilton.
HOW is it different from Absentee Ballot Voting?
Here’s how Early Voting compares to Absentee Ballot Voting in several important ways:
Early Voting is in person and you don’t need a reason to vote early. You also don’t have to fill out an application for a ballot first.
Absentee Ballot Voting has changed this year — you no longer need a reason to vote absentee. But voters must first fill out an application and submit it to the Wilton Town Clerk. (For more information about Absentee Ballot Voting, visit the Wilton Registrar of Voters webpage or the CT Secretary of the State’s website.)
This year Early Voting is being done on the voting tabulators. The machines are secured each evening and votes will be counted on Election Day.
Absentee Ballots must be mailed to the Town Clerk or deposited in a Ballot Box at Town Hall. All ballots will stay sealed and be secured and stored, unopened until Election Day, when they will be counted.
WHEN
Connecticut has 14 days of early voting:
- every day from Monday, Oct. 19 through Sunday, Nov. 1 , from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
- on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Thursday, Oct. 29, polls are open for extended hours from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

WHAT IF I’M NOT REGISTERED? — SAME DAY REGISTRATION

Bring proof of identity and proof of residence in Wilton, and allow extra time for registration and processing.
- During EARLY VOTING: Register and vote every day Early Voting is open at the Clune Center polling place.

HOW can you be sure voters don’t vote TWICE?
According to the Secretary of the State’s office, election officials at Early Voting locations will record voters that have cast Early Voting ballots. Voter lists are maintained to prevent any duplicate voting by absentee ballot at Election Day polls.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Wilton has consolidated all three voting districts into one voting location. ALL districts will now vote at the Wilton High School Field House on Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 3, 6 a.m.-8 p.m.). Early Voting is held at the Clune Center at Wilton High School.
