Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps is hosting an EMT-Training course in partnership with the University of New Haven. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-10 p.m. (with occasional Saturday afternoons) at Comstock Community Center (180 School Rd.).
This comprehensive program will prepare participants to provide lifesaving pre-hospital care as a certified EMT — and open the door to opportunities in healthcare, emergency services and community service.
“Becoming an EMT is more than just earning a certification. It’s about gaining the skills to save lives, building confidence in high-pressure situations and becoming part of a dedicated team of volunteers who serve our community every day,” WVAC President John Miscioscia said.
More information and details are available on the WVAC website. Registration for the course is open and being handled through the Wilton Parks and Recreation website.
New this year, WVAC’s partnership with the University of New Haven means eligible students may earn college credits while completing their EMT training.
Students must be 16 by the end of February 2026 to apply for the course. Email Wilton Ambulance for more information.
The cost to participate in the full course is $1,300, which includes a First-In Bag with a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope. (A required textbook is not included in the fee.) To help WVAC build the next generation of EMTs in the Wilton community, students who successfully pass the EMT course and the National Registry EMT (NREMT) exam, and who join WVAC and maintain membership requirements will be eligible for full reimbursement of their course fee.
