Wilton adults looking for new activities, interests and connections will have an opportunity to explore local offerings at the inaugural Find Your People Fair on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 1-4 p.m. at Wilton Library.
The free event will introduce adults ages 18 and older to clubs, recreational programs, leagues, activities and social groups available in the Wilton community. Possibilities include book clubs, singing groups, trivia teams, knitting circles, fishing and hiking groups, Dungeons & Dragons players, whiskey-tasting clubs and other shared interests.
The fair is part of the Wilton Is Where You Belong initiative, which aims to build community connections and reduce the effects of social isolation and loneliness.
It follows a March screening of the documentary Join or Die, which explores the role clubs and community participation can play in personal and civic well-being.
The program is a collaboration among Block Party USA, Wilton Social Services, Wilton Library and the Wilton Youth Council.
Groups Invited to Participate
Wilton organizations and groups interested in showcasing their activities may apply for space at the fair. Organizers are particularly interested in groups that:
- Meet regularly
- Are based in Wilton
- Include members ages 18 and older
Organizations offering several adult programs are asked to present all of their groups at one table.
Space is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee participation. Organizers will notify applicants whether they have been selected. Each participating organization will receive half of a table.
A directory of participating groups will be distributed at the event and made available online through Wilton Social Services. Groups that cannot attend the fair may apply to be listed in the directory. Groups based outside Wilton also may apply for inclusion if they have Wilton members.
