The following is a press release from the Wilton Fire Department.
On Tuesday Aug. 19, at 9:50 a.m., the Wilton Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Sharp Hill Rd. The initial response included Wilton Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 4, Car 1 and Car 2, and Wilton Ambulance.
Engine 1 was first on scene and reported a garage fire with fire coming from the roof area. Initial reports indicated an occupant was still in the building, however after searches and receiving additional information collected, that report was determined to be unfounded.
A water supply was established from a hydrant on Rte. 7. Fire crews stretched handlines to contain and extinguish the fire. Fire crews also secured the property’s utilities, checked for fire extension and did overhaul work.
Mutual aid resources requested due to the working fire were: New Canaan Engine 2 and Tanker 8, Norwalk Truck 1, Norwalk Car 7, and Westport Truck 1 with Car 3.
Weston Engine 2 and Georgetown Tanker 3 provided station coverage and responded to one additional incident during the fire.
The Wilton Fire Marshal’s Office responded and is investigating the cause of the fire. Wilton Police Department, Wilton EMS and the Wilton Building Department also responded to the scene. There were no reported civilian or emergency service injuries reported.
