On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11, the Cannon Grange will be transformed by beautiful floral designs with hundreds of examples of blooms, buds, and branches from local gardens; plus educational exhibits, youth and senior displays, intriguing artistic crafts, and an amazing photography section — all for the Wilton Garden Club’s 2025 flower show, “American Revelries — A Blooming Quilt of Holidays and Traditions”! This event is free to the public, with a suggested donation of $15.
“Hosting Flower Shows in Wilton has been a Club tradition since our first show in 1922,” Wilton Garden Club President Janer Belson said. “Our hardworking 30-member Flower Show Committee has enjoyed working together and is pleased to showcase the historic Cannon Grange as the venue for the event.”
The National Garden Club‘s (NGC) rules for flower shows stipulate that only fresh flowers and plant material can be used in exhibits. Therefore all entries will come directly from the gardens and talents of the Wilton Garden Club’s own members, members of the community, and additional garden clubs from across Fairfield County.
The show will feature the following divisions: Horticulture — hundreds of locally grown specimens; Design — 20 extraordinary floral designs; Education — five exceptional and noteworthy displays; Youth and Sponsored Groups — many wide-ranging exhibits from preschool through high school students, and unique exhibits by seniors; Botanical Arts and Artistic Crafts — 12 amazing floral craft creations; and Photography — striking photos of seasonal landscapes, wildlife, plants and flowers.
The theme and staging of American Revelries celebrates the abundance and diversity of celebrations across the country. There are holidays and traditions of every imaginable stripe, from solemn (Veteran’s Day) to silly (Talk Like a Pirate Day); from fiery (July 4th) to furry (Groundhog Day).
“The American people have so many days and ways to observe the joys of harvesting and community, of gatherings to mark the transit of the season and the importance of love, family and time together,” Belson said. “Don’t forget to smile and enjoy ‘Walk Like a Chicken Day’!”
The show will be held in accordance with the standards set by National Garden Clubs and judged by NGC certified judges.
“We are very excited to showcase our members’ creativity and floral design skills in our festive, holiday-themed Flower Show,” Design Division Chair Gretchen Kilmartin said. “Additionally, we will also have eight floral designs that will be created by participating local flower show judges and student judges that are sure to be stunning.”
The Garden Club Flower Show will be open to the public on Friday, Oct. 10, from 1-5 p.m., and again on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Cannon Grange (25 Cannon Rd.).
