Wilton Garden Club (WGC) spread holiday cheer to town members in need last week with two special workshops.
At Comstock Community Center, in partnership with the Wilton Senior Center, the WGC held its monthly “Healing, Therapy and Senior Gardening” program. WGC members helped 30 Wilton seniors make festive evergreen arrangements. “We really enjoy working with our town’s seniors throughout the year, and especially now to brighten their holidays,” WGC’s garden therapy chair Mary Otocka said. “We’re grateful to Stephanie Rowe, director of Wilton Social Services, for her support of this very popular program.”
And at Old Town Hall, WGC members made their annual stunning holiday centerpieces for community members in need. Janet Lane, chair of the WGC civics committee, said the group created 29 arrangements — 19 were donated to Wilton Social Services to be distributed to its clients; seven were given to homebound members of WGC; and three were donated to Ambler Farm’s greens sale.
“Community service is at the heart of Wilton Garden Club,” WGC President Andrea O’Meara said. “We’re very pleased to spread holiday cheer through our love of gardening and nature.”
