Nothing says springtime like a hillside of cheerful daffodils. Thanks to Wilton Garden Club and its many volunteers, more than 15,000 daffodils are blooming around town to welcome spring. They mark the achievement of the club reaching the goal of its town beautification program, known as the Golden Miles Initiative, which began in 2021 to celebrate Wilton Garden Club’s centennial with the effort to plant 15,000 daffodils in Wilton over five years.

This past November, the club, along with First Selectman Toni Boucher and volunteers from ASML, Wilton Kiwanis Club and the general public, completed the initiative’s final phase by adorning the grounds of Town Hall with 2,000 bulbs.
Other locations where daffodils can be seen include Wilton Library, Wilton Historical Society, Ambler Farm and the Norwalk River Valley Trail.
The daffodil mix of 15 time-tested beauties provides a succession of flowers for a four- to six-week bloom each spring. Club officials say the Garden Club members are pleased that their contribution will benefit Wilton for many years to come.
“Many thanks to everyone who has participated in this special effort to beautify our town for years to come,” Golden Miles Chair Suzanne Knutson said. “We hope the daffodils lift everyone’s spirits after our long New England winters.”
Community members can use the club’s self-guided driving tour to witness the flowers’ perennial beauty before they vanish.
