Tickets are on sale now for the Wilton Playshop spring production of Nunsense, with the first show on Friday, Apr. 24.

This much-loved musical comedy follows the Little Sisters of Hoboken, who discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of their fellow sisters. With the convent running short on funds, the surviving nuns hatch a plan to stage a variety show to raise enough money to give their departed sisters a proper burial. The result is an evening of music, laughs and inspired chaos.

The production is directed by John Atkin, with musical direction by Ken Knox and choreography by Christine Titus. The show is produced by Jen Kepner and stage managed by Liam Gallary.

Nunsense will be Friday, Apr. 24 through Saturday, May 9 — check the Wilton Playshop online for show dates and times and to purchase tickets. Tickets are $35 for adults, and $30 for seniors and students.

The Wilton Education Foundation’s 15th Annual Reading Rocks! fundraiser raised nearly $48,000 this year, bringing its total impact to more than $640,000 for enrichment programs across Wilton Public Schools. The event featured schoolwide participation at both Miller-Driscoll School and Cider Mill School, including “Dress Like a Rockstar Day,” student performances and a community-wide World Read Aloud Day that brought dozens of local readers from the community into classrooms.

Funds from Reading Rocks! support programs in the arts, technology and professional development, with recent grants benefiting robotics teams, student-run print shop initiatives and the Middlebrook Science Fair. The program continues to highlight the importance of reading while strengthening connections between students and the broader community.

WEF Chair Jennifer Carvajal emphasized the impact these grants have across the district.

“Wilton Education Foundation is dedicated to supporting our schools beyond what the school budget allows. Newly awarded grants, like the WPS Print Shop, will bring exciting new programming to our schools. Past grants, like district-wide makerspaces, the Miller-Driscoll student-run postal system, and the MDTV studio, continue to extend our students’ learning outside the classroom.”

Fifth grader Davis Janey, this year’s iPad prize winner, also marked his fifth consecutive year as a top fundraiser, raising more than $12,000 during his time at Cider Mill School. His final-year win creates a full-circle moment, reflecting both his love of reading and his commitment to supporting Wilton schools, while fellow student Anna Runge was also recognized as a top fundraiser.

GOOD Young Voices: Middlebrook Student Wins Sen. Murphy’s MLK Jr. Day Essay Contest

CT State Treasurer Erick Russell presents Alina Bhanderi with her award from Sen. Chris Murphy for the essay she wrote in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Credit: contributed

A Wilton sixth grader has been recognized at the state level for her writing. Middlebrook School student Alina Bhanderi was named the middle school winner for the 4th Congressional District in U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy’s 10th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest, which invites students across Connecticut to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and their own aspirations.

In her essay, Bhanderi wrote about addressing poverty through community service and small acts of giving, inspired by both Dr. King’s message and her own experiences. “I believe, like he did, that everyone is created equal but not everyone starts, lives, or ends up with equal chances,” she wrote, adding that even small contributions can “improve so many more lives.”
