The last weekend in October offers two great opportunities to enjoy the traditions of fall and make a difference in Wilton.

Pumpkin Parade Halloween Photos for Ambler Farm

Local photographer Justin Baiad is continuing a Halloween tradition this year for the benefit of Ambler Farm. On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 2-4 p.m., Justin Baiad Photography will photograph families at the Wilton Pumpkin Parade. He will be taking photos on the town green, near the gazebo.

Complete with a fall Halloween scene, families will receive free digital portraits as a gift for any donation of $20 or more to Ambler Farm. Images will be available for free download from Baiad within two- to three weeks of the event. Each family gets a few images for only $20, and 100% of the donations go to Ambler Farm. Venmo, cash or checks will be accepted.

Pumpkin Patch for Wilton Family YMCA Flood Relief

The 10th annual Wilton Kiwanis Club Pumpkin Patch is open at the Wilton Historical Society (224 Danbury Rd.) and this year 100% of Patch earnings will benefit the Wilton Family YMCA Flood Relief Appeal. The large display of orange and exotic pumpkins across from Our Lady of Fatima Church is hard to miss when traveling through town. Kiwanis members staff the Pumpkin Patch daily through Halloween and a fresh shipment of pumpkins was delivered Thursday, so there’s a fresh large selection still available.

Drew Schellhorn of Wilton was less than half of a pound off in the pumpkin sale’s annual “Guess the Pumpkin’s Weight” contest. He estimated the weight of this Dykeman Farm prize pumpkin to be 121 pounds, just a hair less than its certified weight of 121.4 pounds. This year’s contest featured over 200 guesses, ranging from 30-300 pounds. Schellhorn’s guess earned him a $50 ice cream gift certificate to Scoops.
