Wilton residents already know just how great the customer service is at Wilton Hardware. Now, the store has been given an award for it, and recognized by the True Value Company as “Best Store in Town” out of more than 450 stores across seven states.

Wilton Hardware was one of 13 True Value Hardware stores from around the world that the True Value Company recently honored as winners of its tenth annual Best Hardware Store in Town recognition program. Tom Sato, owner of Wilton Hardware, was presented with the award during True Value’s 2017 Spring Reunion, held Feb. 17-19 in Anaheim, California.

“Winning the Best Hardware Store in Town award validates all of the efforts by our staff to provide a great shopping experience for each customer who visits the store,” Sato said.

Sponsored by True Value Company, the Best Hardware Store in Town program honors retailers who exemplify successful retailing. “Wilton Hardware represents the best of what it means to be part of True Value,” said John Hartmann, president and chief executive officer of True Value Company. “Tom is a terrific ambassador for True Value, dedicated to serving not only his customers, but also his community.”

The selection process included assessments based on True Value’s Roadmap to Retail Excellence and mystery shoppers who visited the store. Each finalist was evaluated based on physical store appearance, product selection, competitive pricing, promotional sales and customer assistance.
