The Wilton High School Class of 2024 was celebrated by the students and staff of the schools they attended for Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8 at a walkthrough of Cider Mill and Middlebrook Schools by the graduating seniors on Thursday morning, June 13.

Conceived of by parent Olga Zargos-Traub and organized by other class parents and teachers and administrators at Cider Mill, Middlebrook and Wilton High School, the visits by approximately 200 members of the class who will officially graduate on Saturday, June 15 was a walk down memory lane for both students and their former teachers. It also provided a glimpse of what lies ahead for the current students at two of Wilton’s younger schools.

“Look how big you’ve gotten!” and “I can’t believe how little we were!” were just two of the sweet exclamations overheard during the two-hour reminiscence. The graduates were cheered on at each school as the communities there congratulated the students about to take their next steps into the wider world and allowed the younger students connect with what they will move forward toward on their own journeys.

Younger kids waved signs of congratulations and the graduates hugged teachers who thrilled at seeing their former students. The Middlebrook teachers put together an extra-special event for the graduates — the same class that finished eighth grade in 2020, when school had gone remote just three months prior due to the COVID pandemic. Given that the class missed an in-person Soaring Ahead to High School ceremony, Middlebrook educators gave the seniors what they’d missed, with a parade through the school’s hallways that led to a walk across the Middlebrook stage as a way to recapture a bit of what they’d lost.

“It was a full circle today of a Portrait of a Graduate, the Class of 2024 being celebrated by our elementary and middle school students, and the Class of 2024 thanking their former teachers with many hugs and thanks. The signs made by the kids at both Cider Mill and Middlebrook, the high fives, the chants by the kids were inspiring and so special! Congratulations Class of 2024, always a Warrior!” Zargos-Traub wrote in a social media post.

Wilton High School will graduate its seniors on Saturday, June 15 at 1 p.m. at the WHS Veterans’ Memorial Stadium. The school will livestream the video on YouTube.

  1. I moved to Wilton from Stamford in 1985. Every time I read a special event story about Wilton I feel very proud and this year’s story about the 2024 Graduation Class and all the students, activities, awards, etc. has done the same.

Congrats to all the teachers, students, administrators and parents.!!!!
