The Wilton High School ski team is back on the slopes! Both the Warrior boys and girls finished a strong second in the first Class S race of the 2025 Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League (CISL) season, held Thursday, Jan. 9, at Mount Southington. The first-place winners were Weston High School (boys) and Daniel Hand High School (girls).

Returning Wilton coaches Bill Howard (girls) and Mike Krudwig (boys) are confident the Warriors will have another great season following their success last year when the boys won the Class S title and the girls placed second.

In Thursday’s race, junior captain Cooper Buchichio led the Warrior boys by placing second out of 122 skiers, achieving a combined two-run time of 47.21 seconds. Senior captain Hudson Hagmann finished closely behind in fifth place (48.26), followed by junior Mason Behar (20th, 52.52); senior Will Soucy (30th, 53.85); juniors Ray Slough (32nd, 53.97) and Theo Satrazemis (33rd, 54.12); sophomore Sean Raftery (36th, 54.5); junior Kieran Wiseman (43rd, 55.9); freshman Benjamin Behar (45th, 56.06) and junior Matt Morano (55th, 57.94).

Wilton Warrior girls were led by senior captain Paige Leung who claimed seventh place out of 132 skiers (50.84). Freshman Olivia Edwards finished closely behind in eighth place (51.24), followed by senior captain Georgia Polito and freshman Siena Buchichio in 10th (51.26) and 12th (51.53) places respectively. Senior Kellogg Pettibone then finished in 19th (53.59), followed by senior Claudia La Orden Oro (23rd, 53.82); junior Polina Popova (24th, 53.93); junior Lyla Theoharides (28th, 54.56); sophomore Nola Levy (33rd, 55.42); and freshmen Maggie Buchichio (37th, 56.47) and Anjulie Bervoets (42nd, 57.48).

“The Warriors have an exciting season ahead,” Howard said. “With nearly half of the team in 9th and 10th grade, they’re young and strong. They’ll build experience as they continue to improve against the clock as well as their opponents.”

The Warriors will race next on Wednesday, Jan. 15, against both Class S and Class L teams in another test for both varsity and JV skiers.

Complete team results may be found online.

Correction: This article was updated to include the finish results of Olivia Edwards on the girls team. Edwards was not included with the original story submission.
