Wilton High School‘s ski teams gave an impressive performance at the Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League (CISL) state championships last week (Feb. 27). In Class S, Wilton boys won the state title and Wilton girls finished fourth. For the season, Wilton boys were undefeated and Wilton girls achieved third place.
Overall at States (for Class S and the larger Class L), Wilton boys came in fourth and Wilton girls placed eighth.
For the boys’ competition, Fairfield Prep took the Class L and overall state title followed by Fairfield (263.53), Ridgefield (264.54), Wilton (264.67) and Staples (265.52).
For the girls’ teams, Fairfield won the overall state title (276.6), followed by Staples (279.02). Weston (281.46) won the Class S title.
Wilton freshmen Kira Howard and Ryan Van Heyst led the Warriors at states. Howard (pictured above) placed second overall out of 109 skiers with 44.04; she also achieved first place in Class S. Van Heyst (below) finished 14th overall out of 127 skiers with a two-run time of 43.21.

For Wilton boys, Christian Theoharides placed 18th (43.44), followed by Dominick Polito (33rd, 44.24), Michael Hueglin (35th, 44.4), Patrick Verrilli (36th, 44.43), August Theoharides (48th, 44.95), Scott Verrilli (55th, 45.26), Phil Klinga (58th, 45.42), John Fortuna (62nd, 45.62) and Matt Arrix (85th, 47.65).
Julia Bonnist was the next Wilton girls finisher in 28th place (46.89), followed by Katie Reid (49th, 48.46), Emily O’Brien (52nd, 48.68), Hope Ullman (55th, 49.24), Alex Magnasson (76th, 51.1), Megan Kaeyer (78th, 51.36), Emily Welch (80th, 51.56), Chloe Elias (86th, 52.88) and Lexi Hine (91st, 53.97).
