WHS Senior Luke Ginsburg Commits to Marist
Congratulations to Wilton High School senior Luke Ginsburg, who signed a commitment letter with D-1 Marist University to play football.
WHS Swim & Dive Dunks Fairfield Co-op, 101-69
On the strength of two individual wins by senior co-captain and Marist College-bound Jake Mercer, the Wilton High School swim and dive team moved to 5-2 with a win over the Fairfield Co-op (Ludlowe/Fairfield Warde) team, 101-69, on Monday, Feb. 3, at the Wilton YMCA pool.
Fairfield started off the meet with a fast swim winning the 200 medley relay with Wilton placing second (A.J. Yee, Ozzy Andrews, Lucas Fontana and Mercer) and third (Ethan Lam, Sam Jacobson, Gregory Pinchbeck and Alex Nguyen). The 200 freestyle was won by Hirsh Iyer with Andrew Mims finishing third and Eric Ding fourth. The 200 individual medley was won by Fontana with Jacobson taking third. Mercer won his first individual event in the 50 freestyle with Andrews and Ethan Elias second and fourth, respectively. Diving was not contested for this meet, and Wilton was up 39-23 at the break.

Fairfield won the 100 butterfly however Wilton placed second (Iyer) third (Yee) and fourth (Pinchbeck). Fairfield won its second consecutive event in the 100 freestyle with Andrew Mims second and Jacobson third. The 500 freestyle was Fairfield’s third consecutive win with Fontana placing second and Ding third. Wilton went up 76-48 after placing first (Andrews, Iyer, Ding, and Andrew Mims) and second (Adam Mims, Danny Babashak, Will Satara and Pinchbeck) in the 200 freestyle relay.
Mercer won his second individual event in the 100 backstroke with Yee placing second. Fairfield went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke with Elias third and Andrews fourth for Wilton. Wilton placed first (Ding, Iyer, Yee and Mercer) and third (Fontana, Andrew Mims, Lam, Pinchbeck) in the 400 freestyle relay for the 101-69 victory.
Wilton swims home on Monday, Feb. 10 for Senior Night against Westhill/Stamford at the Wilton YMCA pool.
WHS Swim & Dive Posts 95-83 Win Over Darien High School
The Wilton High School swim and dive team moved to 6-2 by winning all three relays and five individual events to post a 95-83 win over Darien High School on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 5, at the Darien YMCA pool.
Wilton started the meet by placing first (A.J. Yee, Sam Jacobson, Hirsh Iyer, and Jake Mercer) and third (Ozzy Andrews, Ethan Elias, Gregory Pinchbeck and Alex Ngyuen) in the 200 medley relay. Wilton continued its winning ways in the 200 freestyle with first (Andrew Mims) and second (Eric Ding) place swims. In the 200 individual medley, Lucas Fontana placed first and Pinchbeck third. The 50 freestyle saw a 1-2 finish by Mercer and Iyer, respectively. Spencer Smith placed second in the diving and the score after the break was 45-27 Wilton.
Darien came back to win the 100 butterfly with Wilton placing second (Andrew Mims) and third (Pinchbeck). Mercer won the 100 freestyle with Yee placing second. Darien went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle with Iyer finishing third and Ding fourth. Wilton won the 200 Freestyle Relay (Andrew Mims, Jacobson, Ding and Fontana) and closed out the final events by placing first (Yee) and third (Ethan Lam) in the 100 backstroke, second (Fontana) and fourth (Jacobson) in the 100 breaststroke and first (Mercer, Ding, Fontana and Yee) and second (Andrew Mims, Adam Mims, Lam and Andrews) in the 400 freestyle relay.
Wilton swims at home against Westhill/Stamford on Monday, Feb. 10 at the Wilton YMCA for Senior Day and closes out the dual meet season on Wednesday, Feb. 13 against Trumbull at the University of Bridgeport pool.
Wilton High Ski Team Seizes Second and Celebrates Senior Night

The Wilton Warrior skiers claimed second place last week, on Thursday, Jan. 30, at their fourth race of the regular CISL season. They also celebrated their eight seniors: Hudson Hagmann, Claudia La Orden Oro, Paige Leung, Kellogg Pettibone, Georgia Polito, Will Soucy, Lora Stanicheva and Merrick Thompson.
The Warrior boys were led by junior captain Cooper Buchicchio who claimed third place out of 111 skiers with a combined two-run time of 42.71 seconds. Senior captain Hagmann finished closely in fifth place (43.38), followed by junior Mason Behar (20th; 48.01); junior Theo Satrazemis (27th; 54.12); junior Kieran Wiseman (29th; 49.83); sophomore Sean Raftery (33rd; 50.48); freshman Benjamin Behar (46th; 51.9); senior Will Soucy (55th; 53.16); junior Henri Allemand (69th; 55.21) and sophomore Kevin Berghaus (81st; 58.30).
The Warrior girls were led by senior captain Leung who finished sixth out of 120 skiers in 45.53 seconds. Freshman Olivia Edwards followed closely in 10th place (46.15), followed by senior Pettibone (13th; 46.83); junior Polina Popova (22nd; 48.84); senior captain Polito (23rd; 49.40); freshman Maggie Buchichio (32nd; 50.37); senior La Orden Oro (34th; 50.52); junior Lyla Theoharides (37th; 50.81); sophomore Nola Levy (38th; 50.88); and freshmen Siena Buchichio (40th; 51.29) and Parker Pettibone (41st; 51.30).
