Wilton Police have announced that the planned road closure on Kent Rd. will take place starting tonight at midnight, Thursday, Aug. 7, and will continue through the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 12

This closure is needed to facilitate necessary construction work on the Danbury Branch line Kent railroad crossing. The work is part of the CT Department of Transportation (CTDOT) work that has fully closed the Danbury Branch train line from Friday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 17.

During the long closure, the MTA is providing substitute bus service to replace all train service. Normal train service will resume on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025.

During the Aug. 7-Aug. 12 Kent Rd. closure, no traffic will be permitted to cross the train tracks on Kent Rd. and only local traffic will be allowed access to the construction area.

To assist motorists, a detour route has been established: south on Old Belden Hill Rd., to Grist Mill, and back to Route 7.

Clear signage has been placed along the detour route to guide drivers safely and efficiently.

Police have asked all motorists to avoid Kent Rd. during this period and plan alternate routes to minimize delays, and have thanked residents for their cooperation and understanding as work is done to improve the infrastructure in the community.

Commuters can find the substitute bus schedule and sign up for real-time alerts through the MTA website
