Over the years the Wilton Kiwanis Club has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to give to worthy community nonprofits. From roast beef and spaghetti dinners to golf tournaments, Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Patch fundraisers, and the Memorial Day Pancake Breakfasts and annual Car Show “friendraisers,” the community has helped the Kiwanis Club make invaluable contributions to where Wilton needs it.
Since its inception decades ago, the winter Kiwanis Citrus Sale has been a dominant source of the funds the club has raised to support local organizations, including the Wilton Family YMCA, the Wilton Historical Society, Woodcock Nature Center, Wilton Library and Trackside Teen Center, among others. Even better, the Citrus Sale now includes chocolates!
The deadline for ordering for this year’s Citrus and Chocolate Sale is Wednesday, Jan. 29, with delivery of items promised in time for Valentine’s Day or to just enjoy yourself.
“We continue to offer quality citrus from the same supplier who services both Village Market and Caraluzzi’s. Grapefruit, Cara cara navel oranges and clementines are packaged in various sized boxes as well as in smaller combinations,” Kiwanis Citrus Committee leader Day Shields said.
It was Kiwanis President Jerry Sprole who brought in See’s Chocolates four years ago.
“We are pleased to again be selling attractive Valentine’s Day boxes of assorted chocolates and other fine items from See’s candies. This world-renowned California chocolatier is the best known, high-end chocolate west of Chicago,” Sprole said.
To help Wilton nonprofits and enjoy high-quality citrus and chocolates at a reasonable price order online. But hurry, organizers say the deadline is fast approaching.
