This past Sunday, Nov. 4 was a beautiful sunny day with blue skies that made the fall colors even more beautiful, but beauty of a different sort was taking place inside the Wilton High School field house, where the Westchester/Fairfield/Hudson Valley chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held its JDRF “One Walk” fundraising event.
Teams from all over the New York Metropolitan area raised funds to help fund juvenile diabetes research and gathered in the WHS gym to participate in the walk. Among the teams was The Micah Team, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Wilton and formed in honor of Club member Ray Tobbiasen‘s grandson Micah West, who lives with Type 1 diabetes. The Kiwanis Club of Wilton donated $1,800 to the JDRF, monies collected from the sales at the Kiwanis Club’s “Pumpkin Patch” over the weekend of Oct. 13-14.
Pictured at the “One Walk” on Sunday were (L-R): Rudi Hoefling, Jack McFadden, Mary Anne Franco, Carol Boehly, and Tobiassen, with grandson Micah West, and his parents, Matthew West and Melissa West; at far right is Marcia Masio, executive director of JDRF.
