The generous citizens of Wilton contributed more than $16,000 in cash and gift cards during the Dec. 13-15, 2024 Wilton Kiwanis Club‘s food drive to Feed Wilton. The Kiwanis members didn’t let the frigid weather stop them from collecting in front of the Village Market and Stop & Shop.

“This was the largest quarter and with more than $50,000 for 2024, the largest yearly contribution ever,” Kiwanis Club President Jerry Sprole said.

The cold-hardened Wilton Kiwanis greeters (many serving multiple shifts)included Mike Safko, Sprole, Day Shields, Ross Tartell, Colin Christ, Bill Mathews, Mike Whitted, Mary Anne Franco, Steve Erickson, David Sklar, Dagny Eason, Bill Brennan, Carol Gahagan, Ken Ogasawara, Kevin Craw, Moira Craw, Whitney Janeway, David Gortz and Crickett Safko (and Maddie).

Lauren Hughes, the coordinator of senior services and family programs for the Wilton Department of Social Services, conveyed heartfelt thanks on behalf of food insecure residents in Wilton to all those in the community who donated, Village Market and Stop & Shop employees, and the Wilton Kiwanis Club.

“Contributions supplement what we offer at the pantry with their choice of fresh produce, dairy and meat products,” Hughes said.

Thank you for reading this GOOD Morning Wilton article. I hope you find all our reporting helpful and an important part of keeping up on everything in Wilton. Since 2013, GMW has worked hard to bring you timely, independent news that's available to everyone at no cost. No other news source covers Wilton, and only Wilton, full-time. What makes this local public service possible is reader support. Paid memberships fund reporters who bring you next-day news and secure our resources for things like livestreams and getting news to you when it counts. But we can't do this without your support. For as little as $5 a month, a GOOD Morning Wilton membership can keep local, independent news going in Wilton. Please consider supporting us today. Thank you,

Heather Borden Herve, GMW Editor/Publisher
