On the heels of another amazing pumpkin sale season, the Wilton Kiwanis Club and the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WVAC) — this year’s beneficiary of the sale — extended a heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to everyone in the community who generously supported the Annual Great Pumpkin Sale. Kiwanis organizers proclaimed this year’s fundraiser “a tremendous success,” after Kiwanians sold over $40,000 worth of pumpkins, exotic gourds and mums, with all net proceeds going directly to WVAC.
“The local Community has really rallied around this important yearly fundraiser that benefits an aspect of our local community each year. It is a testament to our residents recognizing and supporting local needs and we are very grateful for their support.” said Paul Hannah, who has chaired the Kiwanis Pumpkin Committee for 11 years.
“This year we know we selected wisely,” Hannah continued in praising this year’s fundraising recipient. “Not only do WVAC’s volunteers respond to all emergency calls in Wilton, but they were also at the Wilton Historical Society every weekend helping us out, usually with an ambulance on premises for families to explore while finding their perfect pumpkins, adding to the fun and excitement for all.”
WVAC President Esther Hilbers shared that she especially enjoyed meeting many town families, particularly the children, throughout the sale. “Everyone we talked to was very appreciative for the work WVAC does for the people in Wilton,” she said.
WVAC depends on community support to continue delivering lifesaving services. Proceeds from the sale will help fund WVAC’s daily operations, from purchasing life-saving equipment to training volunteers and maintaining the resources required to deliver the highest standard of care.
