With school finishing up this week, the Wilton Library is starting its summer reading program to encourage kids to stay engaged with reading even if they’re not in the classroom. Both programs kick off on the last day of school for Wilton Public Schools, Friday, June 23, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m..

1000 Books for Kindergarten

Children who are not yet entering kindergarten are invited to participate in the Library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program for the summer and beyond. During the summer, children will receive a special bonus prize for visiting the library each week. Make sure children say ‘hello’ to a Children’s librarian and sign up for Wilton Library cards in their names. In person registration required. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten at Wilton Library is sponsored by Tiger Tales, and Cohen and Wolf. Call the Children’s Library for details at 203.762.6336.

Water, Wind & World Summer Reading Program

Join Wilton Library this summer for the Water, Wind & World Summer Reading Program. Children can register on Wandoo Reader, an online reading log to keep track of their reading anywhere they go as long as they have an internet connection. By reading, logging, and completing challenges, kids will be eligible for benchmark prizes throughout the summer.  The Water, Wind & World program stimulates kids’ imaginations with wonderful stories and fun activities while learning about ecosystems, animals, and resources in the world they live in. Drop-in story times, drop-in activities, large-group enrichment and entertainment programs and animal visits are just some of the events planned though August 25.
