Minks to Sinks recently held its annual meeting at Wilton’s Cannon Grange to celebrate a record-breaking year of fundraising and community support. During the event, the group presented a check for $100,000 to Family & Children’s Agency (FCA), marking Minks to Sinks’ best year since before COVID-19.

“Minks to Sinks continues to be one of FCA’s most impactful fundraisers, and we are endlessly grateful for the hard work and dedication of its volunteers,” FCA President/CEO Robert F. Cashel said. “Their efforts make a tangible difference in the lives of so many individuals and families in our community.”

In addition, Wilton resident Laura Rowley was announced as Minks to Sinks’ new chair. Rowley has been a member of the organization for nine years, beginning as a runner unloading donors’ cars and sorting donations, and has served as the co-chair of the intake department. Outgoing co-chairs Jennifer Davatzes and Linda Koch officially handed over the reins by presenting Rowley with a framed illustration of “Mrs. Sminks,” the group’s iconic logo.

“I love being a part of this intergenerational group that holds onto the ideal of seeking to improve the lives of others through service. I look forward to a deeper level of involvement this year and feel honored to follow in the footsteps of our past chairs who have each left their mark on Minks to Sinks,” Rowley said.

During the meeting, the group also welcomed new members and celebrated others who graduated from provisional to full membership with the presentation of the traditional aprons.

Minks to Sinks is a volunteer-driven organization with more than 90 years of history in Wilton. Twice a year, the group organizes massive tag sales where thousands of donated and consigned items are sold to benefit FCA, a nonprofit human services organization with more than 30 programs serving children, families, adults and seniors.

The next Minks to Sinks tag sale will take place Saturday-Monday, May 3-5, under a big tent near the Wilton High School tennis courts. Donations and consignments will be accepted Tuesday and Wednesday, April 29-30, with donations also accepted Thursday, May 1. For more information about donating and consigning (including a list of items accepted), shopping or volunteering, visit Minks to Sinks online.
