In a continuation of a good week for the town’s Police Department, Wilton’s finest held a promotion ceremony Wednesday, April 5, to elevate two of their officers.
Lt. Rob Cipolla was promoted to the rank of Captain, and Sgt. Gregg Phillipson was promoted to Lieutenant. Police Chief John Lynch (newly promoted, himself on Monday, April 3) said that both rose through the ranks quickly.
Speaking about both officers, first selectman Lynne Vanderslice remarked about how deserving they both were.
“I’m thrilled about these two promotions. Anybody who was at the award ceremony certainly knows why these two individuals are being recognized today,” she said.
At the annual police awards ceremony last month, Phillipson was awarded a Medal of Honor and Cipolla received the first ever Community Officer of the Year award.
After being sworn in by the town clerk, Lori Kaback, each officer had his badge pinned on his jacket by his wife.
