On Tuesday, Jan. 18, the Wilton Police Department swore in Luis Llano as a new officer. Llano will begin attending the CT Police Academy in Meriden on Jan. 21, 2022. The current academy lasts a little over 26 weeks and will be a mix of virtual and onsite learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Llano is a resident of Trumbull and a recent graduate of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology. He also fulfilled his college internship with the Newtown Police Department. As an intern he reviewed 500-plus body-worn camera incidents as part of a partnership project between Sacred Heart and Newtown Police.
Ofc. Llano is following in the footsteps of his father, Luis Llano, Sr., who has been a police officer with Farmingdale State College for the past 23 years and in law enforcement for over 26 years overall.
