Wilton Pride has announced an annual Wilton Pride Pathway to Inclusivity Scholarship and has opened the application period. According to a press release, the scholarship is a $1,000 award for a graduating high school senior who “has contributed significantly to creating a more inclusive and diverse school community.” As the release explains, “This scholarship honors students who have been advocates for change, embracing diversity and actively promoting an environment of respect and acceptance within their school.”
Criteria
To be eligible for the Pathway to Inclusivity Scholarship, applicants could:
- Demonstrate leadership in social justice advocacy, participating in initiatives that tackle social inequalities such as racism, sexism, or ableism within the school.
- Engage in breaking stereotypes and challenging societal norms, opening doors for underrepresented groups and inspiring others.
- Create meaningful connections and foster collaboration with peers from diverse backgrounds, promoting intercultural understanding within the school.
- Exhibit resilience and determination in overcoming personal or systemic challenges, serving as an inspiration to peers.
- Show exceptional talent or passion in cultural or artistic expression, actively promoting the appreciation of diverse cultures through school clubs or innovative projects.
Instructions for Applying
Applicants should submit a written essay (length of their choosing) OR a 4-6 minute video reflecting their efforts and the impact they’ve made within the school community. Applicants should accompany this with a statement from peers, teachers, advisors, coaches, community members or other school officials who can confirm the student’s contributions. Submissions will be reviewed and selected by the Wilton Pride Scholarship Board.
All applications must be submitted via email by April 11, 2025, noting “[Applicant Name] + Wilton Pride Pathway to Inclusivity Scholarship” in the subject line.
