Each week the Wilton Town Clerk’s office releases data for the prior week’s real estate transactions. From Friday, Apr. 10 through Apr. 16, 2026, Town Clerk Lori Kaback reported two properties that changed hands.
Important: Please note that the Town Clerk’s report contains limited information. For details, read the document on file in the Wilton Town Clerk’s office. These land transfer reports are available on the town website.
GMW makes an effort to find current photos from recent real estate listings, websites such as Zillow.com, or mapping services such as Google Maps. In some cases, photos may be from previous real estate listings or town appraisal/land records.
Key Highlight: Sales remained slow but steady this week with one gem of a Colonial in the Silvermine area and the storybook Mary Gannett House (Circa 1931) making the grade, for a grand total of $1,790,000.
Dating back to the mid-19th century, the Gregory Family owned the land on which the Gannett House was built. Mary Gregory was the last family member in ownership of the property, totaling 3.5 acres and extending all the way to St. Matthew’s Cemetery.
In 1922, Gregory sold the property to Harry Remsen. Remsen sold it several years later to Edith Day, who then sold 1.25 acres of that property to Mary Ross Gannett in 1931.
Gannett built the home some time between purchasing the property
in 1931 and the end of that same year. As a journalist and writer, Gannett played pivotal roles in many Wilton based organizations, including the League of Women Voters and wrote a weekly column for the Wilton Bulletin entitled “Everybody’s Business.”
Gannett inhabited the house until 1964 at which time, she sold it to Mary Wilson, who sold it only a few years later to Thomas and Victoria Spater.
