Wilton Scouts BSA Troop 125 and the American Legion Post 86 invite the Wilton community to join them in honoring local veterans, both living and deceased, at a special ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9-11 a.m.
The ceremony will begin at the War Memorial (Center St. at Old Ridgefield Rd.) in Wilton Center, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at Hillside Cemetery (165 Ridgefield Rd.). More than 100 wreaths, generously donated by Wilton residents, will be placed on the graves of fallen veterans.
Community members are encouraged to participate in this meaningful event, which has become a Wilton tradition.
“It’s a privilege for our Scouts to honor the brave men and women who have served our country,” Troop 125 Scoutmaster Adrian Biltoft said. “This annual ceremony is a way for us to express our gratitude and remember their sacrifices.”
In addition to the Dec. 14 ceremony, Troop 125 will be selling fresh wreaths and garland to the Wilton community at Village Market, Orem’s Diner and Rise Doughnuts during the weekends of Nov. 30-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8, from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the wreath sales will support the Troop’s scouting programs and community service projects in Wilton.
BSA Troop 125 is dedicated to developing young scouts into responsible, ethical and productive citizens. For more than 55 years, the troop has served Wilton, including honoring veterans and supporting local causes.
