Some Wilton students have come up with a creative way to draw attention to a very serious topic.
The Wilton High School varsity cheerleaders, in partnership with the WHS Video Club, are hosting their first-ever Halloween-themed Costume Fun Run and 5K to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.
Working closely with the Wilton Police Department and local first responders, these students are coming together to spread an important message: distracted driving is the number one cause of teen deaths — and it’s 100% preventable.
The students said this community event aims to promote safe driving habits while bringing families and friends together for a fun, meaningful morning.
The 5K will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. at Merwin Meadows. The registration fee is $25.
Participants of all ages are encouraged to dress up, walk or run, and enjoy a festive fall day. In addition to the 5K, attendees can look forward to raffle prizes donated by generous local businesses including Pinocchio Pizza, Adam Broderick Salon and Spa, and many more. And of course — there will be candy (while supplies last).
The community is invited to come support Wilton’s student-athletes, creatives and community heroes while making a difference. To register, please visit: the event registration webpage.
