Wilton’s own talented theatrical duo Beverly and Kirby Ward are staging a table read of their new musical comedy Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime at the York Theater in New York City on today at 3 p.m.Kirby serves as director; he and Beverly co-wrote it, and she created the music and lyrics. The cast includes Matthew-Lee Erlbach as Lord Arthur Savile, and Sally Struthers (of All in the Family fame) as Lady Clementina Clarke.

The couple, who have collaborated on many projects in the past, adapted their musical from the Oscar Wilde short story of the same name. Wilde tells the story of a lovesick young aristocrat and his hilariously misguided attempts to “do his duty” – even if it means murder.

The Wards first presented their musical comedy in a reading at the Wilton Playshop in the fall of 2013. Following the table read at the York Theater, the Wards will present their show as a reading at The Village Theatre’s Festival of New Musicals in Issaquah, WA, the weekend of August 8-10.

The York Theater Company is located at 619 Lexington Avenue, New York City. Tickets for the table reading of Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime are available through the box office at 212.935.5820 or online at yorktheater.org.
