There’s a new salon in town.

Veteran Fairfield County stylist Michele Maestri-Murphy has arrived in Wilton to hang her shingle. Eco Chic Salon and Blow Dry Bar opened in April at 12 Center St. in Wilton, next to Portofino Restaurant.
“While we were looking for a space, a family client who lives in Redding reached out to tell us about the salon space in Wilton,” recalls Maestri-Murphy. “My staff and I thought Wilton would be an ideal location for Eco Chic because of its down-to-earth yet hip vibe.”
Maestri-Murphy takes a very healthy approach to beauty, while staying on-trend and in style. Salon products are natural and organic and free of ammonia, carcinogens, formaldehyde, paraben, sulfates and synthetic fragrances. Eco Chic-branded products—such as the new revitalizing and highlighting Marigold shampoo and conditioner—are biodegradable, botanically-based, herbal formulas made with food grade ingredients. They are cruelty-free, gluten-free, and non GMO and synthetic-free. Clients can take advantage of alternative hair services with less toxic variations from the typical salon experience, such as USDA Organic Henna Gray Coverage.
“As a very young stylist I was very interested in nutrition and wellness and I quickly became concerned about how working with the harsh chemicals could negatively impact my health,” Maestri-Murphy explains. “In fact, at one point I even considered getting out the business all together!”
Instead, driven by her love for her children, the earth, and humanity, Maestri-Murphy went to work to create a healthy and safe environment where people want to come to work, enjoy being creative, and are able to share their knowledge with customers.
While visiting the salon clients can enjoy distilled pure water, certified organic teas or European coffees with raw honey. Reinforcing Maestri-Murphy’s commitment to the environment are gift cards made with pre-wood and biodegradable material as well as marketing materials and business cards with plantable seed paper. Cleaning products are non-toxic as well and naturally purified air is ensured by green plants throughout.
“We are so overloaded with toxins and my environmentally-friendly salon offers a much-needed break from all of that,” says Maestri-Murphy
Eco Chic Salon is now offering an August Back-to-School Special, where children under 12 can get their hair cut for $15 and teen girls haircuts are $25. And, while Mom waits, she can get a blowdry and demineralizing treatment for just $40. And, don’t miss the salon’s Summer Special Blowout for $25.00.
