The Wilton Woman’s Club (WWC) has appointed longtime member Kathy Poirier as its new president, succeeding Maria Wilcox. Poirier takes the helm at a particularly meaningful moment, as the Club celebrates its 60th anniversary of community service, philanthropy and friendship in 2026.
“I’m excited to work alongside the incredible women of our club at this special moment,” Poirier said. “Over the years, serving in many supporting roles, I’ve been amazed by what this group can accomplish when we set our minds to something. The energy, creativity and determination within WWC are unmatched. Now, stepping into the role of president, I feel both honored and hopeful. I know what we’re capable of, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll build together.”
Poirier has been an active WWC member for more than a decade, contributing her time and talents across many roles: co-chairing the Philanthropy Committee, serving as secretary, helping shape fundraisers and supporting countless events. She is also a fixture in the club’s social circles, from book club to dinner gatherings, where she said the “thought-provoking conversations and connections among intelligent, worldly women” are among the club’s greatest strengths.
As president, Poirier said her top priorities include nurturing this spirit of connection, ensuring every member feels seen and valued, and deepening the club’s philanthropic impact. WWC has a long legacy of supporting both community spaces and critical social causes, from Ambler Farm and the Norwalk River Valley Trail, to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center and Circle of Care. Each week, members also keep the Wilton Food Pantry stocked with fresh food by making the trip to and from the Stamford Food Bank — an effort Poirier calls “vital and deeply meaningful.”
Founded in 1966, the Wilton Woman’s Club has long been a cornerstone of volunteerism and civic engagement in town. Under Poirier’s leadership, the club will expand its lively network of interest groups, ranging from book clubs to dinner circles, while continuing to offer both day and evening events to ensure all members can participate. The club will continue the tradition of its spring fundraiser and is currently in the process of selecting the beneficiary for that event.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kathy into this role,” Wilcox said. “Her vision and warmth will carry the club forward into its next chapter.”
