Wilton Youth Council‘s new “Community Champion” program, part of its town-wide Wilton Coalition for Youth‘s “Wilton is Where You Belong” campaign, highlights one individual each month who makes a positive difference in the Wilton community and sets a model for others to get connected in the same way. Candidates are nominated by community members by submitting a brief online nominating form; nominations are reviewed and selected monthly by Coalition members. The Coalition has partnered with GOOD Morning Wilton to announce each month’s Community Champion.
Congratulations to Maria Wilcox on being named the Wilton Coalition for Youth’s May 2025 Community Champion as part of the #WiltonIsWhereYouBelong campaign. Community Champions are recognized for their positive influence, work or commitment to our community.
Wilcox has spent over 15 years volunteering for the betterment of the Wilton community. While her children were younger, she was involved in the Cider Mill PTA, and continued volunteering in each new school as her children advanced. Wilcox took on new roles within the PTA through the years, including serving as treasurer at multiple schools. Wilcox is now the president of the Wilton Woman’s Club which highlights her dedication to serving Wilton. As her nomination stated, “her commitment never stopped once her kids graduated.”
The Wilton Coalition for Youth is made up of a myriad of organizations, town departments and individuals who serve youth and families in Wilton. These organizations are working together to coordinate efforts aimed at preventing substance misuse and promoting the mental health and emotional well-being of youth and families. The effort is spearheaded by the Wilton Youth Council.
