Wilton Youth Council‘s new “Community Champion” program, part of its town-wide Wilton Coalition for Youth‘s “Wilton is Where You Belong” campaign, highlights one individual each month who makes a positive difference in the Wilton community and sets a model for others to get connected in the same way. Candidates are nominated by community members by submitting a brief online nominating form; nominations are reviewed and selected monthly by Coalition members. The Coalition has partnered with GOOD Morning Wilton to announce each month’s Community Champion.

Congratulations to Wilton resident Sarah Beach on being named the Wilton Coalition for Youth’s first Community Champion, as part of the #WiltonIsWhereYouBelong campaign. Community Champions are honored for their positive influence, work or commitment to the Wilton community. Wilton Youth Council officials said that, as the inaugural award winner, “Beach perfectly represents the intention of this monthly honor.”

A dedicated volunteer in Wilton, Beach is commonly found supporting fine and performing arts programs in the community. Multiple community members nominated Beach as a Community Champion.

One person called Beach a “tireless supporter” of the arts for Wilton students. “She invests her time and creativity helping get the word out about our district’s strong arts programming, including through the creation of the district’s first website for Fine and Performing Arts. And you can always find her pitching in and welcoming participants at various elements.”

Another person noted Beach’s dedication to the community and complimented her personality. “Of course, she is a fun and just overall, a really nice person to be around.”

The Wilton Coalition for Youth is made up of a myriad of organizations, town departments and individuals who serve youth and families in Wilton who are working together to coordinate efforts aimed at preventing substance misuse and promoting the mental health and emotional well-being of Wilton’s youth and families. The effort is spearheaded by the Wilton Youth Council.

To nominate a Wilton community member as a Community Champion, complete an online nomination form.
