Wilton Youth Council (WYC) will present two different panels on the importance of play — one for families of students in grades 5-12 and the other for families of Pre-K to grade 5 students. The panel discussions will be held at Wilton Library.
Registration for both events is encouraged and can be completed through the library website.
Prior to attending either panel, WYC officials encourage participants to view the award-winning documentary, Chasing Childhood, which focuses on three tri-state communities — including Wilton —
Grades 5-12: “Recharge Required: Rest, Recreation and Raising Healthier Teens”

This panel discussion explores the role of rest and recreation in scaffolding tweens and teens to a satisfying launch. Panelists will connect clips from Chasing Childhood, which considers elements of what makes a healthy upbringing.
Panelist for this event are Justine Bedocs, occupational therapist and founder of Building Blocks Pediatric Therapy; Tanya Leonard, program coordinator for Youth to Youth and Middlebrook School teacher; and Meghan Perazella, CEO and co-founder of The Hangout Spot.

Pre-K to Grade 5: “Building Life Skills Through Play”

This panel discussion will consider how play contributes to a healthy childhood and sets kids up for greater independence. Panelists will connect conversation with clips from Chasing Childhood, which discusses many elements of what makes a healthy childhood.
Panelist for this event are Bernadette Hess, assistant principal, Early Learning Center at Miller Driscoll School; Laure Friedman, pediatric occupational therapist; and Meghan Perazella, CEO and co-founder of The Hangout Spot.
