Do you want greater cooperation and less yelling with your kids? Do you want a deeper connection with your children? Do you want to understand them better?
Parents often find themselves repeating the same suggestions and requests to their children regularly but don’t see any change in the results. Although they seek deeper understanding and connection with their children, they sometimes feel frustrated and even farther apart.
If this resonates, Wilton parents of elementary school children are invited to join like-minded others in a workshop hosted by Wilton Youth Council and led by Susan Bauerfeld, PhD, on “How to Talk so Kids Will Listen.” This four-session workshop gives participants the know-how needed to be more effective as parents and will connect them with other parents of elementary school children.
In this supportive, small community, participants will learn how to strengthen their most important relationships. They will leave with practical tools and strategies to implement immediately. At the end of the four workshops, group members will find friendships and connections with other parents.
A previous workshop participant had this to say about taking part:
“I wanted to thank you! I really enjoyed the course I attended. I feel like I have a new set of wings! You have taught me to look at things with a new insight and have given me the tools to implement them. This has helped me with everything in my daily life — of being a mother, a wife, sister, teacher, friend… etc..”
The free “How to Talk” workshop series will be held on four consecutive Tuesday evenings in January — Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28 — from 7-8:30 p.m. at Comstock Community Center (180 School Rd.) and are specifically geared towards parents of elementary-aged children. Register on the Wilton Youth Council website. Space is limited.
