Another week (December 5-11) of active weather is likely for Wilton. Last week, we received 2.17 inches of much-needed rainfall, which will likely put a dent in the drought. Now this week, we have more chances for rain (although it will be light), and even chances for snow.

Monday, Dec. 5:  The greatest chance for snow will be this Monday in the morning. What perfect timing to have snow falling right during the morning commute! Allow for extra time because your drive may take longer due to the snowfall. Up to two inches of snow may fall on the grass and roadways making for slick conditions. That snow should transition into rain by the late-morning, and then all of the precipitation should end by noon, leading to clearing skies to end the day.

Monday School Predictions:  Below are the chances for a school delay, early dismissal, and cancellation due to the snow this Monday:

2

Tuesday, Dec. 6:  Tuesday looks like a cloudy and cool day with temperatures only in the mid 40s. We will be socked in with the clouds ahead of our next storm system, which may bring some rain showers Tuesday evening, but the overall day looks dry.

Wednesday, Dec. 7:  Rain and snow showers are possible in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, but by daybreak we should be dry with clouds clearing to sunshine with temperatures around average at 45 degrees.

Thursday, Dec. 8:  Another disturbance will push through Wilton on Thursday, bringing with it the chance for both rain and even snow showers because it will be on the chilly side. As we get closer to Thursday, we will have a better understanding whether there will be rain or snow. If it ends up being snow event, it will be a very minor one.

Friday, Dec. 9:  The cold front associated with Thursday’s disturbance will clear through the area by the time Friday rolls in. That cold front will drive in a brutal blast of arctic air. Temperatures will be up to fifteen degrees below average into the weekend. On Friday, it will only be in the upper 30s under a mix of sun and clouds. It will also be windy, making for an even more miserable day.

Saturday, Dec. 10:  Then on Saturday, temperatures will fall even further. Highs around the freezing mark will only feel like the upper 20s. If the high is sub-freezing, that will make it the first for the season, which usually happens around this time of the year. Winds will still be blowing strong, but at least skies will be clear and blue.

Sunday, Dec. 11:  Sunday will be a similar day to Saturday, with very cold and brutal conditions. The only differences is that winds will be lighter and there will be more clouds present, but the sun will still be out at times.
