If you’re hoping for some winter weather this week (January 16-22), I have some bad news for you because another week of mild temperatures and near-record-breaking highs, along with rain at times, is in store.
Monday, Jan. 16: The weather this Monday, which is also Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, will be fantastic. Mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the low 40s will make for a nice, comfortable winter day in Wilton.
Tuesday, Jan. 17: Then on Tuesday, the next storm system will track through, bringing light rain showers in the afternoon. At the start of the precipitation, however, there is a low chance for freezing rain or snow, so be sure to be on the lookout for that. It won’t be anything significant, and any wintry precipitation will melt once the rain moves in.
Wednesday, Jan. 18: A few remaining showers will move through on the backside of the storm Wednesday morning, but will then shut off by the afternoon with just mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures in the mid 40s.
Thursday, Jan. 19: Temperatures will really get mild for the rest of the week and into the weekend as the sunshine returns. High pressure will build over the Northeast this Thursday, leading to mostly sunny skies and very comfy conditions. With this mild air, you’ll only need a light jacket during the entire day.
Friday, Jan. 20: That area of high pressure will then shift offshore for Friday, but it will remain nice outside, featuring increasing clouds and temperatures about ten degrees above average. Our average high for this time of the year is 37 degrees; Friday, it’ll be more like 47 degrees instead!
Saturday, Jan. 21: Then for the front side of the weekend on Saturday, expect sun and clouds accompanied by the persistent mild air.
Sunday, Jan. 22: On Sunday, expect more of the same with periods of sun and clouds, although a storm may be moving in for Monday of next week, so if the timing changes, some rain cannot be ruled out late in the day. Therefore, Saturday looks like the nicer day of the weekend.
