A much uglier week (May 22-28) of weather is ahead for Wilton, unlike last week’s very hot weather. In fact, we actually had a heat wave Wednesday through Friday! My weather station recorded three consecutive days with temperatures of at least 90 degrees, which is what makes a heat wave. The hottest day was Thursday with a high of 96 degrees! Looking ahead, here’s your forecast for what is going to be an unsettled and cool week of weather:

Monday, May 22:  Unfortunately, the new week is going to be off to a very dismal start with a rainy day on the way Monday. A moderate rain will be falling during much of the day, ending during the evening but not before adding up to as much as an inch of rain. It will also be an even cooler day, so Monday is really going to be a bad weather day as tropical moisture streams in all the way from the Gulf of Mexico.

Tuesday, May 23:  On Tuesday, we’ll get a brief break ahead of two more storms that will hit for the latter part of the week. Temperatures will be rebounding back into the low 70s, which is very seasonable for this time of the year. There will be lots of high clouds overhead, so the sunshine will be filtered.

Wednesday, May 24:  Now on Wednesday, I’m keeping an eye out on a weak coastal storm that will move in a northeast direction just off the New England coast. Depending on how close that low pressure will be to the coast will determine whether we’ll have another rainy day like Monday or just a few showers at times. As of now, I’m leaning towards the middle of the two scenarios with rain in the morning, then clearing out during the afternoon.

Thursday, May 25:  We’re not out of the woods yet, however! On Thursday, the third storm of the week will impact Wilton. This storm is not looking impressive at this moment with only the chance for a shower or two, but that may certainly change. Either way, the pattern is still unsettled with the weather remaining damp.

Friday, May 26:  Finally by Friday, the main brunt of Thursday’s storm will be out of the region, but there is still the chance for a few morning showers as we transition back to nicer weather, just in time for the big holiday weekend. Expect the sun to break out Friday afternoon with temperatures right around average at 70 degrees.

Saturday, May 27:  As I just mentioned, all of Memorial Day Weekend is forecast to be beautiful, as of now. It’s still early to forecast all the way out to next Monday, but there is support that the weather will be pretty nice during the Saturday to next Monday time period. Specifically on Saturday, I’m forecasting partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday, May 28:  Sunday is looking similar to Saturday with temperatures peaking into the mid 70s. There will be periods of sun and clouds with the slight chance for a shower. Fingers-crossed that we’ll have great weather for the entire Memorial Day Weekend, especially on Monday for the parade and all the activities you have planned.
